Sar″code (?), n. [Gr. � fleshy; σάρξ, flesh + εἰ̑δοσ form. Cf. Sarcoid.] (Biol.) A name applied by Dujardin in 1835 to the gelatinous material forming the bodies of the lowest animals; protoplasm.
