Scal″pel (skăl″pĕl), n. [L. scalpellum, dim. of scalprum a knife, akin to scalpere to cut, carve, scrape: cf. F. scalpel.] (Surg.) A small knife with a thin, keen blade, — used by surgeons, and in dissecting.
