Si‐len″ti‐a‐ry (sī̍‐lĕn″shĭ‐ā̍‐ry̆), n. [L. silentiarius: cf. F. silenciaire. See Silence.] One appointed to keep silence and order in court; also, one sworn not to divulge secrets of state.
