Sliv″er (slĭv″ẽr or slī″vẽr; 277), v. t. [imp. & p. p.Slivered (–ẽrd); p. pr. & vb. n.Slivering.] [See Slive, v. t.] To cut or divide into long, thin pieces, or into very small pieces; to cut or rend lengthwise; to slit; as, to sliver wood. Shak.
