Spa″dix (?), n.; pl. L. Spadices (#), E. Spadixes (#). 1. (Bot.) A fleshy spike of flowers, usually inclosed in a leaf called a spathe.
2. (Zoöl.) A special organ of the nautilus, due to a modification of the posterior tentacles.
