Spin″y (?), a. [From Spine.] 1. Full of spines; thorny; as, a spiny tree.

2. Like a spine in shape; slender. “Spiny grasshoppers sit chirping.” Chapman.

3. Fig.: Abounding with difficulties or annoyances.
