Squelch (skwĕlch), v. t. [imp. & p. p.Squelched (skwĕlcht); p. pr. & vb. n.Squelching.] [Cf. Prov. E. quelch a blow, and quell to crush, to kill.] To quell; to crush; to silence or put down.
