‖Sym‐po″di‐um (?), n.; pl.Sympodia (#). [NL., fr. Gr. σύν with + �, dim. of �, �, foot.] (Bot.) An axis or stem produced by dichotomous branching in which one of the branches is regularly developed at the expense of the other, as in the grapevine.
