Ves″per (vĕs″pẽr), n. [L., the evening, the evening star, the west; akin to Gr. ἕσπεροσ, εσπἕρα, and perhaps to E. west. Cf. Hesperian, Vespers.] The evening star; Hesper; Venus, when seen after sunset; hence, the evening. Shak.
