Xanthoxylum

‖Xan‐thox″y‐lum (?), n. [NL., from Gr. ξανθόσ yellow + ξύλον wood.] (Bot.) A genus of prickly shrubs or small trees, the bark and rots of which are of a deep yellow color; prickly ash.
