Xy‐loph″a‐gous (?), a. [Gr. ξυλοφάγοσ eating wood; ξύλον wood + φαγει̑ν to eat.] (Zoöl.) (a) Eating, boring in, or destroying, wood; — said especially of certain insect larvæ, crustaceans, and mollusks. (b) Of or pertaining to the genus Xylophaga.
