Zygophyte

Zyg″o‐phyte (?), n. [Gr. ζυγόν a yoke + φυτόν a plant.] (Bot.) Any plant of a proposed class or grand division (Zygophytes, Zygophyta, or Zygosporeæ), in which reproduction consists in the union of two similar cells. Cf. Oöphyte.
