ζάω

I. "to live", Hom., etc.; ἐλέγχιστε ζωόντων vilest "of living men", Od.; ζώειν καὶ ὁρᾶν φάος ἠελίοιο Il.; ῥεῖα ζώοντες "living" at ease, of the gods, id=Il.; ζῶν κατακαυθῆναι to be burnt "alive", Hdt.:—also, ζῆν ἀπό τινος "to live off or on" a thing, Theogn., Hdt., etc.:— τὸ ζῆν ῀ ζωή, Aesch., etc.: —in a quasi-trans. sense, ἐκ τῶν ἄλλων ὧν ἔζης (= ἃ ἐν τῶι βίωι ἔπραττες) from the other acts of your life, Dem.
