ἠχέω

I. intr. "to sound, ring, peal", Hes.; often of metal, ἤχεσκε (ionic imperf.) Hdt.; τὰ χαλκεῖα πληγέντα μακρὸν ἠχεῖ Plat.; of the grasshopper, "to chirp", Theocr.
