3. "to touch, attempt", λόγου γλώσσηι θ. Soph.:—in hostile sense, "to attack", θηρός Eur.
II. metaph. of the feelings, "to touch", id=Eur.; ψυχῆς, φρενῶν θ. id=Eur.; πολλὰ θιγγάνει πρὸς ἧπαρ "reach" to the heart, Aesch.
2. "to reach, gain, win", τινός Pind., etc.:—Pind. uses it in this sense, as he does ψαύω, c. dat.
