I. "an outer garment, a cloak or mantle" worn above the χιτών, the same as Homer's χλαῖνα, Hdt., Ar.:—used of "the Roman toga", ἐν ἱματίοις, Lat. togati, Plut.

2. ἱμάτια, τά, generally, "clothes", Hdt., Dem.

II. generally, "a cloth", Hdt.
