I. c. acc. pers. "to shut in, inclose" a mummy in its case, Hdt.; τοὺς Ἕλληνας ἐς τὴν νῆσον κ. "to drive them into" the island "and shut" them "up" there, Thuc.:—Mid. "to shut oneself up", Xen.; κατακλᾴξασθαι "to shut up" the bride "with oneself", Theocr.

2. metaph., νόμῳ κ. "to shut up", i. e. "to compel, oblige", Dem.; also, εἰς κίνδυνον μέγιστον κατακεκλεῖσθαι "to be reduced", id=Dem.
