1. "to bend forward, stoop down", Hom., Hdt., etc.; θέει κύψας runs "with the head down", i. e. "at full speed", Ar.; κύψας ἐσθίει eats "stooping", i. e. "greedily", id=Ar.; κέρεα κεκυφότα ἐς τὸ ἔμπροσθεν horns "bent" forward, of certain African oxen, Hdt.
