I. "the space between the eyes, the brow, forehead", Hom., etc.

II. "the front or face" of a wall or building, Hdt.: "the front" of an army or fleet, Aesch., Xen.; ἐπὶ μετώπου or ἐν μετώπῳ in "line", opp. to ἐπὶ κέρως or κέρας (in column), Xen.
