Etym. πλέω
1. "a sailing, voyage", Od., Hdt., attic; πλοῦν στέλλειν, ποιεῖσθαι Soph.; μῆκός ἐστι πλόος ἡμέραι τέσσερες its length is four days' "sail", Hdt.
2. "time or tide for sailing", Hes., Soph., etc.; πλῷ χρῆσθαι to have a fair wind, Thuc.
