Etym. τα^χύς

I. "quickly, presently, forthwith", Lat. statim, Hom., etc

II. "perhaps", Plat., etc.:—so also τάχ᾽ ἄν "probably, perhaps, may be", with opt., Hdt., attic:— τάχ᾽ ἄν alone, in answers, Plat., etc.:— strengthd., ἴσως τάχα Xen.; τάχα τοίνυν ἴσως Dem.; τάχ᾽ ἂν ἴσως Soph., etc.
