An‐gus″ti‐clave (ăn‐gŭs″tĭ‐klāv), n. [L. angustus narrow + clavus a nail, a stripe.] (Rom. Antiq.) A narrow stripe of purple worn by the equites on each side of the tunic as a sign of rank.
