{ Chab″a‐site (kăb″ȧ‐sīt), Cab″a‐zite (kăb″ȧ‐zīt), } n. [Gr. χαβαζίοσ one of twenty species of stones mentioned in the poem Περί λίθων, ascribed to Orpheus.] (Min.) A mineral occuring in glassy rhombohedral crystals, varying in color from white to yellow or red. It is essentially a hydrous silicate of alumina and lime. Called also chabasie.
