En″ter‐o‐cœle′ (?), n. [Gr. ἔντερον an intestine + κοι̑λον a hollow.] (Anat.) A perivisceral cavity which arises as an outgrowth or outgrowths from the digestive tract; distinguished from a schizocœle, which arises by a splitting of the mesoblast of the embryo.
