Ka″ra‐ite (?), n. [Heb. qārā to read.] (Eccl. Hist.) A sect of Jews who adhere closely to the letter of the Scriptures, rejecting the oral law, and allowing the Talmud no binding authority; — opposed to the Rabbinists.
