‖Myx′o‐my‐ce″tes (?), n. pl. [NL.; Gr. � mucus, slime + myceles.] (Bot.) A class of peculiar organisms, the slime molds, formerly regarded as animals (Mycetozoa), but now generally thought to be plants and often separated as a distinct phylum (Myxophyta).
