Spon‐toon″ (spŏn‐to͞on″), n. [F. sponton, esponton, It. spontone, spuntone.] (Mil.) A kind of half-pike, or halberd, formerly borne by inferior officers of the British infantry, and used in giving signals to the soldiers.
