‖Tæ′ni‐o‐so″mi (?), n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. ταινία ribbon + σω̑μα body.] (Zoöl.) An order of fishes remarkable for their long and compressed form. The ribbon fishes are examples. See Ribbon fish, under Ribbon.
