Etym. ἀναβάλλω
I. of the thing,
1. "that which is thrown up, a mound", Xen.
2. "that which is thrown back over the" shoulder, "a mantle, cloak", Plat.:—also "the fashion of wearing it", Luc.; cf. ἀναβάλλω B. 111.
II. as an action,
1. "a prelude" on the lyre, Pind.; "a dithyrambic ode", Ar.; v. ἀναβάλλω B. I.
2. "a putting off, delaying", Hdt., Thuc.; οὐκ ἐς ἀμβολάς without "delay", Eur.; V. ἀναβάλλω B. II.
