I. of places, "difficulty of passing", Xen.

II. of things, "difficulty, straits", ἐς ἀπορίην ἀπιγμένος, ἀπειλημένος, ἐν ἀπορίηι or ἐν ἀπορίηισι ἔχεσθαι, ἀπορίηισιν ἐνεχέσθαι Hdt.; ἀπ. τοῦ μὴ ἡσυχάζειν "impossibility" of keeping quiet, Thuc.

III. of persons, "difficulty of dealing with", τινός Hdt.
