I. "to carry over or across", Od., Thuc., etc.

II. of Time, "to go through, pass, spend", βίοτον, βίον Aesch., etc.

2. intr. (without βίον) "to pass life, live", like Lat. degere, Hdt., etc.:— "to delay, put off time", Thuc.:— "to continue", Xen.: c. part. "to continue doing" so and so, δ. μανθάνων id=Xen.; also with adv., ἄριστα id=Xen.

III. "to make to continue or keep" in a certain state, πόλιν ὀρθοδίκαιον δ. Aesch.; διῆγεν ὑμᾶς Dem.
