I. Lat. pius, pious, religious, Theogn., Hdt., attic; εὐσεβὴς χεῖρα "righteous" in act, Aesch.
II. of acts, things, etc., "holy, hallowed, held sacred", id=Aesch., Eur.:— εὐσεβές [ἐστι], c. inf., Anth.; so, ἐν εὐσεβεῖ [ἐστι] Eur.:— τὸ εὐς. ῀εὐσέβεια, Soph., etc.
III. adv. εὐσεβέως, attic -βῶς, Pind., etc.; εὐσεβῶς ἔχει, for εὐσεβές ἐστι, Soph.:—comp. -έστερον, Xen.: Sup. -έστατα, Isocr.
