1. "to make valid, confirm, ratify, determine", Lat. ratum facere, Hdt., Aesch., etc.:—Mid. "to accomplish one's end", Plat.:—Pass. "to be ratified", Hdt., attic:—generally, κεκύρωται τέλος "the end hath been fixed or determined", Aesch.; πρὶν κεκυρῶσθαι σφαγάς before "it has been accomplished", Eur.:—impers. c. inf., ἐκεκύρωτο συμβάλλειν "it had been decided" to fight, Hdt.; ἐκυρώθη ναυμαχέειν id=Hdt.
