Etym. λούω
I. "a bath, bathing place", Hom.; mostly in pl., θερμὰ λοετρά hot "baths", Il.; attic θερμὰ λουτρά Aesch., etc.; also called λουτρὰ Ἡράκλεια Ar.; ὑδάτων λουτρά "water for bathing or washing", Soph.; λοῦσαι τινα λουτρόν to give one "a bath", id=Soph.
