μηνύω
Alt. μηνψ́ω,
I. "to disclose what is secret, reveal, betray", generally, "to make known, declare, indicate", Hhymn., Hdt., attic:—with acc. and part., μ. τινὰ ἔχοντα "to shew" that he has, Hdt.; the part. is sometimes omitted, τόδ᾽ ἔργον σε μηνύει κακόν (sc. ὄντα) Eur.
II. at Athens "to inform, lay public information against" another, κατά τινος Oratt.:—impers. in Pass., μηνύεται "information is laid", μεμήνυται "it has been" laid, Thuc.
2. in Pass. also of persons, "to be informed against, to be denounced", Xen.:—also of things, μηνυθέντος τοῦ ἐπιβουλεύματος Thuc.
