I. "of or from one's father, coming or inherited from him", Lat. paternus, Hom., etc.; ξεῖνος πατρώιος my "hereditary" friend, Il.; γαῖα πατρωίη "one's fatherland", id=Il.; πατρώια "one's patrimony", id=Il., etc.; π. δόξα "hereditary" glory, Xen.; Ζεὺς π. also the god "who protects a parent's rights", Ar.
II. like πάτριος, "of or belonging to one's father", Pind., Soph.; τὰ πατρώια "the cause of one's father", Opp. to τὰ μητρώια, Hdt.
