1. "a vessel or implement of any kind", Ar., Thuc., etc.:—pl. in collective sense, "furniture, house-gear, utensils, chattels", Ar.:—esp. of military "accoutrements, equipment", Thuc., Xen.: "baggage, luggage", Lat. impedimenta, Ar., Xen.:— "the tackling or gear" of ships, Xen., NTest.
