Blithe (blīt͡h), a. [AS. blīðe blithe, kind; akin to Goth. bleiþs kind, Icel. blīðr mild, gentle, Dan. & Sw. blid gentle, D. blijd blithe, OHG. blīdi kind, blithe.] Gay; merry; sprightly; joyous; glad; cheerful; as, a blithe spirit.
