Esophagotomy

E‐soph′a‐got″o‐my (?), n. [Gr. οισοφἄγοσ the esophagus + τέμνειν to cut.] (Surg.) The operation of making an incision into the esophagus, for the purpose of removing any foreign substance that obstructs the passage. [Written also œsophagotomy.]
