Ewe (ū), n. [AS. eówu; akin to D. ooi, OHG. awi, ouwi, Icel. ær, Goth. awēþi a flock of sheep, awistr a sheepfold, Lith. avis a sheep, L. ovis, Gr. ὄϊσ, Skr. avi. √231.] (Zoöl.) The female of the sheep, and of sheeplike animals.
