Me‐lan″o‐type (?), n. [Gr. μέλασ, -ανοσ, black + -type.] (Photog.) A positive picture produced with sensitized collodion on a smooth surface of black varnish, coating a thin plate of iron; also, the process of making such a picture. [Written also melainotype.]
