–oid (–oid). [Gr. �, fr. εἰ̑δοσ form, akin to � to see, and E. wit: cf. F. -oïde, L. -oïdes.] A suffix or combining form meaning like, resembling, in the form of; as in anthropoid, asteroid, spheroid.
