Pa‐thog′no‐mon″ic (?), a. [Gr. � skilled in judging of diseases; πάθοσ a disease + � skilled: cf. F. pathognomonique. See Gnomic.] (Med.) Specially or decisively characteristic of a disease; indicating with certainty a disease; as, a pathognomonic symptom.
