‖Pho‐ro″nis (?), n. [NL., fr. L. Phoronis, a surname of Io, Gr. �.] (Zoöl.) A remarkable genus of marine worms having tentacles around the mouth. It is usually classed with the gephyreans. Its larva (Actinotrocha) undergoes a peculiar metamorphosis.
