Sa‐proph″a‐gan (?), n. [Gr. σαπρόσ rotten + φαγει̑ν to eat: cf. F. saprophage.] (Zoöl.) One of a tribe of beetles which feed upon decaying animal and vegetable substances; a carrion beetle.
