Spon″gi‐o‐lite (–ō̍‐līt), n. [Gr. σπογγιά sponge + -lite.] (Paleon.) One of the microscopic siliceous spicules which occur abundantly in the texture of sponges, and are sometimes found fossil, as in flints.
