Sty″lite (stī″līt), n. [Gr. στυλίτησ, fr. στυ̑λοσ a pillar.] (Eccl. Hist.) One of a sect of anchorites in the early church, who lived on the tops of pillars for the exercise of their patience; — called also pillarist and pillar saint.
