Sub″til‐ize (?), v. t. [imp. & p. p.Subtilized (?); p. pr. & vb. n.Subtilizing (?).] [L. subtiliser.] 1. To make thin or fine; to make less gross or coarse.

2. To refine; to spin into niceties; as, to subtilize arguments.
