1 Timothy 2

Revised King James New Testament

1 Timothy Chapter 2
1
Therefore I urge, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2
For kings, and for all who are in authority; that we may lead quiet and peaceable lives in all godliness and reverence.
3
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4
Who desires all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
5
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6
Who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony at the proper time.
7
And for this I have been appointed a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ and am not lying;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8
Therefore, I want men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or dissension.
9
In like manner also, let women adorn themselves in proper apparel, modestly and soberly; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly attire;
10
But with good works, as becomes women professing godliness.
11
Let a woman learn in quietness and full submission.
12
I do not allow a woman to teach, or to have authority over a man; she must keep silent.
13
For Adam was first formed, then Eve;
14
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
15
Yet women shall be kept safe through childbirth, if they continue in faith and love and holiness with propriety.
