free;

(a) in civil sense, not a slave: Jo 8:33, I Co 7:21, 2212:13, Ga 3:28, Eph 6:8, Col 3:11, Re 6:1513:1619:18; fem., Ga 4:22, 23, 30;

(b) as regards restraint and obligation in general: Mt 17:26, I Co 9:1; seq. ἐκ, I Co 9:19; ἀπό, Ro 7:3; c. inf., I Co 7:39; from the law, Ga 4:26, I Pe 2:16; from sin, Jo 8:36; τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ, as regards righteousness, Ro 6:20 (Cremer, 249).†
